(watch this video first if you haven’t already).
hey girls! i respect you all and everything, but don’t give me this “they’re just exercising their freedom of speech” bullshit when it comes to the whole chick-fil-a issue. these god-fearing christians could go on the rooftops and scream about their hatred for gay people for all i care. they could even change the channel in disgust when ellen comes on tv, pushing her radical, satanist, lesbian agenda to treat one another with kindness and respect. but donating money to anti-gay groups that lobby to take away human rights from a minority isn’t just speech— it’s action. donating money to anti-gay groups, including a payment to an anti-gay group to lobby for the ugandan ‘kill the gays’ bill doesn’t have anything to do with free speech. chick-fil-a doesn’t just give their opinion about gay people, they lobby to take away their rights. most of these anti-gay groups push an agenda that proclaims that members of the LGBT community are AIDS-ridden pedophiles that are a danger to the institution of the family (whatever that means) and try to use fake science to marginalize them, making it acceptable for people to brutalize and shame those that have a different sexual orientation or gender expression than they do. what i’m basically trying to say is that this whole thing has real-life ramifications on the lives of people in the LGBT community. it’s not just money.
i could care less what anyone thinks of me as a male who indulges in the harmful homosexual lifestyle of obsessing over pop culture, arguing about madonna and lady gaga, and just attempting to get through life with some dignity and respect. it’s moreso about radical political warfare against a group of people that are denied equal rights and in turn a chance at a normal life. let’s take a minute here and look at some the recent things going on in the u.s.— like a group of arsonists carving the word ‘dyke’ onto the stomach of a lesbian woman in nebraska before setting her house on fire. or perhaps the story of a 14-year-old boy who was blinded by his classmates for not being man enough. the situation is dire, and the time for action is now. let’s not victim-blame the gays here. let’s not make this story out to be “christians with harmless opinions vs. the big, bad gays that want to silence them.” take a step back and look at who’s suffering here.
oh by the way— i applaud the patriotic americans with good old traditional values who courageously, courageously came out to support chick-fil-a’s national appreciation day. congratulations on being on the wrong side of history. ignorance is bliss, i suppose. god bless you all! let’s hope diabetes doesn’t set in too soon.
